Andy Reid Provides Update on Patrick Mahomes' Injury
By Karl Rasmussen
The Kansas City Chiefs were stunned on their home field by the Colts on Sunday night, putting up just 13 points-- the fewest of the Patrick Mahomes era.
During the game, Mahomes tweaked his ankle in the first half, only to later have an offensive lineman step on the ailing ankle. He was seeing walking with a limp afterwards, but following the game, head coach Andy Reid downplayed the severity of the injury.
"Tweaked it a little bit. I think he's going to be okay," said Reid, per ESPN. "He was pretty good at the end there. We'll see how that goes."
While Reid certainly didn't offer too much of a status update for Mahomes, it's encouraging that they're just calling it a "tweak."
Mahomes reiterated what Reid had said in his own comments saying, "Just re-aggravated it a little bit there in the first half and then got stepped on in the second half. Obviously it’s going to be a little sore tomorrow.”
Despite being hobbled for much of the game, Mahomes still passed for 315 yards and a touchdown. Impressive numbers considering he wasn't able to move as freely as usual.
Hopefully a more firm update is offered on Monday, but for now, don't expect Mahomes to miss much time, if any at all.
