Angels Fans Setup Touching Mural of Tyler Skaggs Outside His LA High School
By Max Scoli
Tyler Skaggs may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
The memory of the deceased Los Angeles Angels pitcher will live on as famous muralist Jonas Never decided to paint the fallen athlete outside of his high school in Santa Monica.
Skaggs was a standout pitcher at Santa Monica High School, posting a 1.11 earned run average with 89 strikeouts in his Junior year, earning him Ocean League Player of the Year honors. He would go on to be selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft, launching his professional baseball career.
Although his career was short-lived, Skaggs managed to have a tremendous impact on his teammates and coaches, who honored their late friend by repping his number during a game against the Seattle Mariners, and tossing a combined no-hitter.
While this accomplishment certainly did not erase the grief that was felt by so many, it did provide his family, friends and supporters with a temporary distraction from this horrible situation.
