Angels Release Statement in Wake of Tyler Skaggs' Autopsy Results
By Jerry Trotta
To say that the entire world of sports, especially Major League Baseball, was sent into sheer shock when it was revealed on July 1 that Tyler Skaggs passed away at the age of 27 wouldn't even begin to describe the tragedy.
Originally, doctors determined that the Los Angeles Angels' hurler passed without any sign of foul play. Fast forward to Friday, however, and the truly disturbing autopsy was released. It detailed that Skaggs had a mixture of fentanyl, oxycodone, and alcohol in his system, which resulted in him choking on his own vomit in the middle of the night.
In the wake of the bothersome revelation, the Angels organization has released a statement, proclaiming that they will provide "full cooperation and assistance to Southlake Police" throughout the investigation.
Los Angeles could be in some deep water as the Skaggs' family statement inferred that an undisclosed employee of the franchise might have supplied the narcotics to Tyler.
Of course, it's very possible that they weren't aware that Skaggs was in possession of the aforementioned compilation of drugs/alcohol.
There's just too many unknown details at this point in the investigation.
Whatever the case, the autopsy unquestionably morphed this calamity into a much uglier and tragic predicament than previously accepted. At least the Angels appear determined to find out the full truth, as we all are, of the beloved southpaw's passing.
