The Los Angeles Angels have made a move to fortify their bullpen with the addition of a veteran southpaw with familiarity in the AL West.

The Halos have inked Ryan Buchter to a minor-league deal which includes an invite to Spring Training.

Buchter has strung together an impressive career across five seasons in the big leagues. He boasts a career 2.86 ERA with a 9.9 K/9 and 1.159 WHIP. The 33-year-old lefty has never recoded an ERA above 3.00.

He spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Athletics, recording a 2.87 ERA in 118 appearances and striking out 91 batters over 84.2 innings of work.

Now, he'll be back in the division and looking to crack a spot somewhere in the ranks of the Angels' bullpen. Given his recent track record, it's not hard to imagine the southpaw working his way onto the big league roster, even if he starts the year out in the minors.
