Angels Unveil Center Field Wall Memorial to Tyler Skaggs
By Brian Cass
The MLB world is still reeling from the sudden death of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs. After the Angels honored him with a moment of silence before their first game without him, All-Star Mike Trout also wore Skaggs' No. 45 jersey during the All-Star Game.
It appears that the Angels will also honor Skaggs in their stadium, as the center field wall is acting as a memorial to the pitcher with his number and portrait.
Following Skaggs' tragic death, it seems like the entire Angels ball club is trying their best to honor him with their play on the field. Mike Trout and Shoehei Ohtani have been on a tear, and the team has won three of four games in the wake of Skaggs' death.
They'll undoubtedly play with their hearts on their sleeves for the rest of the way as they start the second half of the season with a 45-46 record and fourth in the AL West race.
With Skaggs' number on the center field wall at Angel Stadium, the ball club will have a constant reminder of what he brought to the team.
The best way the team could honor him is ending their four-year playoff drought and making a deep run in October. Skaggs wouldn't have it any other way, and we're sure he'll be watching over them as they prepare for the dog days of summer.
