Anonymous Scout's 'Concern' About Mekhi Becton is the Dumbest Thing We've Ever Heard

Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton is destined to go high in the 2020 NFL draft due to his blend of size, strength and speed. The only think that can take his stock down, it seems, are anonymous quotes from scouts that have no connection to reality or logic whatsoever.

One of these scouts claimed Becton is the fifth-best offensive tackle in the draft because he "loves to cook and eat" more than playing football.

Oh, so we've reached the pointless, nonsense rumor stage of the pre-draft cycle. It's a problem that a 364-pound offensive lineman...likes to eat and cook his own meals?

Former New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple was also criticized during his pre-draft process, although he was called "immature" because he didn't know how to cook. You can't win.

Please, NFL teams, don't overthink Becton. At 360 pounds, Becton is the best run-blocking tackle in this class, and he blends that with the ability to get out to the second level of the defense and make plays. Becton is a lock to be drafted within the top half of the first round.

There are obviously emotional and psychological components that go into the evaluation of any prospect, in addition to his tape on the field, but passing on an offensive lineman of his caliber because he likes to cook is the type of stuff that will get people fired.
