Anthony Davis Exits Lakers Game With Possible Rib Injury But Returns Shortly After
By Karl Rasmussen
The Los Angeles Lakers have serious title aspirations in 2019-20, so the health of Anthony Davis is paramount. LeBron's new running mate has been sensational so far this season, but the Lakers were given a scare when he gestured to the bench and requested to be subbed out of the game while indicating he had a rib injury on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Suns.
Davis was subbed out and examined by the team's medical staff, leaving Laker fans with bated breath.
Fortunately for the Lakers, he was back out there a few minutes later ready to re-take the court with his teammates.
Davis has always been a somewhat injury prone player, having only topped 70 games in a season two times throughout his seven years in New Orleans.
The Lakers are going to tread cautiously with their new superstar, and tonight's injury scare proves they're perfectly within reason to do so. If LeBron and AD plan on hoisting that Larry O'Brien trophy together at season's end, Davis can't be on the mend.
While this was just a minor blip on the radar for the Lakers, it's a quick reminder that one play could impact their entire campaign. Don't be surprised if the Lakers give AD a little extra rest throughout the year, though they'll certainly be vying for the No. 1 seed out West.
