Anthony Rendon Provides Comical Evaluation About Juan Soto's At Bats
By Michael Luciano
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto is known first and foremost for being the second-best offensive player on a team that won the National League pennant despite being just 20 years old. Secondly, he's known for his trademark pitch take in which he lunges towards the pitcher.
That bizarre ritual has won Soto quite a bit of admiration, including that of his teammate, offensive superstar Anthony Rendon.
Soto, who hit .282 with 34 home runs and 110 RBIs in the regular season, is hitting .237 in the postseason with two home runs and seven RBIs. He described his unique take as a byproduct of disrupting the pitcher's focus and messing with their head. "I like to get in the minds of the pitchers," Soto said. "Sometimes they get scared."
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Soto will deploy his unique shuffle in the World Series against the Houston Astros. Hopefully for Washington, Soto can follow up these weird lunges towards the mound with a blast or two into the right field bleachers.
