Anthony Rizzo Out of Cubs Lineup on Saturday to Face the Mets
By Sean Facey
The Chicago Cubs will be without one of their top offensive talents, as they face the New York Mets on Saturday.
Anthony Rizzo is out of the lineup for Chicago as he takes a day of rest.
Rizzo is having a career year at the plate as part of a lethal offensive attack for the Cubs. He's slugging a career-high .545 with 19 home runs and 53 runs batted in.
He's also been a model of consistency, appearing in 71 of the team's 75 games so far in 2019.
Starting in his place will be Victor Caratini. He too has had a quality season at the plate. The 25-year-old Cubs utility man is slashing .290/.389/.452 with a 117 OPS+ through 72 plate appearances.
The Cubs certainly don't lack the firepower to produce without him. Even in the absence of their All-Star Game finalist first baseman, they still have the likes of Javier Baez, Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber lurking throughout the batting order.
That being said, with Rizzo out of the lineup, it'll be much easier for the Mets' pitching staff to navigate through things.
