Anthony Rizzo Shares Disgusting Photo of Injured Ankle From Day After He Returned to Cubs Lineup
By Karl Rasmussen
Anyone who says Anthony Rizzo isn't a warrior is straight up lying to themselves.
Despite picking up an ankle injury in mid-September, Rizzo was committed to helping the Cubs push for the postseason and took the field on Sept. 19 despite his injury not being healed.
Well, the slugging first baseman has now revealed the extent of his injury via a photo on Instagram, and it was absolutely disgusting.
The entirety of Rizzo's right foot is covered in bruises, most notably towards the bottom where the lesion gets incredibly dark and nasty.
Rizzo was back in the Cubbies lineup just four days after sustaining the injury. The photo shared to social media was taken on Sept. 20, the day after he returned to the mix.
The fact the 30-year-old slugger was able to suit up and play a full nine-inning game is nothing short of remarkable, considering it was probably painful for him to even put his full body weight on his foot. And to top it all off, Rizzo even went yard in his return to the lineup, ailing foot and all.
Despite Rizzo sacrificing his body for the club, the Cubs ultimately fell short of the postseason, having lost their last eight games, including a crucial four-game sweep at the hands of the Cardinals.
