VIDEO: Anthony Rizzo Singing Selena Gomez Songs While Mic'd up During Cubs' Game is Gold
ESPN had both Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant mic'd up for Monday's game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Angels, which resulted in some absolutely brilliant moments throughout the broadcast. On top of taking a shot at the Astros and sharing an anecdote about heckling Chipper Jones as a child, Rizzo treated fans at home to some wonderful music. The star first baseman seized his moment on the mic to showcase his singing abilities, courtesy of Selena Gomez.
Rizzo did his best cover of "Lose You To Love Me" and Bryant helped him out with the lyrics. Rizzo also explained how he drives his wife crazy by frequently singing incorrect lyrics to songs. That's never discouraged the 30-year-old from unleashing the pipes.
This was a unique experience for fans and something ESPN introduced in the past. Having both Rizzo and Bryant mic'd up was a great choice and the bonus was the first baseman deciding to show off his singing voice on national television.
Let's hope this is an avenue of entertainment we see more frequently in baseball, because this was nothing short of an outstanding boost to the broadcast.
