Antonio Brown Asks Raiders to Release Him in Bizarre and Defiant Instagram Post
By Sam Dunn
Oh, you thought the drama was over when Antonio Brown finally found an approved helmet he was willing to wear, huh? Well, you were wrong.
You must have thought the air was finally cleared when AB apologized to the Raiders following his dust-up with general manager Mike Mayock, with the team then deciding not to suspend him for Week 1, right?
Yeah, no. Definitely no. Just look at what No. 84 just threw up on his Instagram Saturday morning.
Ummmmm... wow.
Some of this sounds like incoherent mumbo-jumbo, somewhere between nobody-believes-in-me motivation and a bizarre sort of conspiratorial defiance of a system he believes to be rigged against "talent like mines" [sic]. But the most important part is right at the end:
"Release me @raiders".
Yes he did, Jason.
Where do the Raiders honestly go from here? Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden have already conceded just about all the leverage to Brown by sidestepping a proper rock fight every step of the way and refusing to slap any punishment on a player who has what would appear to be only a fleeting grip on footballing reality. Enough is enough, people. If Brown really does want to go, it's time to grant him his wish. Because this melodrama has long since passed the threshold of NFL farce.
No, this is the theater of the absurd. And it's time for Mark Davis and Co. to lower the curtain one last time.
