Antonio Brown Charged for Alleged January Assault of Truck Driver in Florida
By Mark Powell
Antonio Brown is running out of chances, and a potential NFL suspension is the least of his worries.
The state of Florida has formally charged Brown for an alleged assault of a truck driver stemming from a January incident. While this is a downgrade from the original allegation of felony burglary with battery, it does not bode well for a former All-Pro wide receiver looking to avoid any addition to his criminal record.
AB faces felony burglary conveyance, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal mischief charges, per police documents. The incident in question occurred when the driver was delivering Brown's personal items from Calif. to his new Florida residence. At some point, the driver and Brown got in an altercation, which allegedly ended with AB and his trainer assaulting the driver.
The wild card in all of this is how proceedings will continue amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted the flow of criminal investigations and court cases all over the country. Both sides will likely spend this time to gather evidence, and the prosecution is free to offer Brown a plea deal should they choose.
The NFL, meanwhile, has another incident to take into account when deciding upon Brown's future on the gridiron.
