Antonio Brown Weirdly Comments on Random Mason Rudolph Instagram Post From November to Show Support
By Mark Powell
Antonio Brown has a lot of time on his hands, and he's trying to stir the pot in the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room. Surprise!
The former All-Pro Steeler wideout has a notoriously bad relationship with Ben Roethlisberger, which makes it all the more curious that he's providing words of encouragement for Mason Rudolph, a player many assumed would be the heir-apparent to Big Ben entering the current season.
AB could very well just be supporting an old teammate, but everything he does must be placed under scrutiny when it comes to the Steelers. The bad blood really is that... well, bad.
The odds are that, yes, Rudolph would've performed better had Brown been in tow to help prevent the team's current tour of self-destruction. However, things are what they are, and Rudolph has failed to show the rapport necessary with any of his other wideout -- including Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster and a former college teammate in James Washington -- to earn the starting QB nod.
Instead, he's been overtaken by an undrafted rookie in Devlin "Duck" Hodges, a kid who hasn't exactly impressed in his few starts.
Rudolph might have a future as Brown's practice QB, though.
