Antonio Brown is Playing on Monday and Mike Mayock Needs to Resign as Raiders GM
By Parker White
UPDATE
Antonio Brown is NOT playing Monday, as the Raiders have cut bait with the troubled wide receiver. Our faith in Mayock is, for now, restored.
How's that new culture coming, Oakland?
With Jon Gruden as the head coach and Mike Mayock coming in as the general manager, the Raiders were supposed to be heading in a new direction. But then they traded for star wide receiver Antonio Brown and all hell broke loose.
But the latest update on the troubling saga is a reflection on Mayock. News broke that Brown will be playing against the Denver Broncos on Monday night football after threatening to punch the Raiders GM (in addition to calling him a "cracker" and a "b---h." All in all, the Raiders opted not to suspend him and now somebody else need to be held responsible.
Mayock needs to resign if he's not going to put his foot down in the face of such callous disrespect.
It appears that a simple apology may be enough for Oakland to ignore everything that's happened. In a completely spineless move, the Raiders just set a terrible example for the rest of the NFL.
Not only is AB addicted to posting complete nonsense on social media that makes himself and his team look childish, but he's missed practice, gotten frost bite on his feet, and has been griping about everything under the sun, including the fact he was the only player making a fuss about the NFL's new helmet standards.
Mayock will be judged by how many games he wins and loses, and obviously Brown gives them the best chance of doing that. But if he thinks that brushing this to the side is going to make this go away, he's sadly mistaken.
He's now making it look like Brown runs the show in Oakland.
That seems extreme for some, but he's letting a player, albeit a superstar, walk all over him like he doesn't have to abide by basic rules. Now, any stud player that goes to the Raiders knows that they can walk all over the front office and management without repercussions.
