Antonio Brown Rape Accuser Reportedly Did Not File Criminal Complaint or Police Report
By Scott Rogust
The NFL world was shaken to its very core on Tuesday night, after newly-signed New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown was accused by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, of three separate incidents of sexual assault and rape from 2017 and 2018.
Taylor alleged that Brown sexually assaulted her in the Pittsburgh area twice in 2017 and raped her in May 2018 in the Miami area.
According to TMZ, spokespersons of the Hollywood Police Department and the Department of Public Safety in Pittsburgh told them they have no records of criminal complaints by Taylor.
The Department of Public Safety in Pittsburgh elaborated further, saying there are "no active investigations into" Brown as of this writing.
TMZ also contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department, in which they provided the following statement:
"The Special Victims Bureau does not have any records of a sexual assault reported by the alleged victim, nor any reports where Antonio Brown is subject," the spokesperson told TMZ.
We must stress that Taylor not filing a criminal complaint doesn't mean the crime never happened. Rather, Taylor didn't meet with police before filing a civil lawsuit.
Taylor is seeking compensation for the alleged acts of abuse imposed by Brown. Mere minutes after news broke, Brown's attorney denied all accusations made by Taylor, and will file a counter-suit for civil extortion.
Despite the serious allegations, Brown participated in practice with the Patriots on Wednesday, and his status for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins is yet to be determined. Reports early Wednesday indicated that it's a possibility that Brown could be placed on the commissioner's exempt list, while the NFL conducts their own investigation.
Britney Taylor is scheduled to meet with NFL officials next week.
