Antonio Brown Signs With Patriots After Dramatic Falling Out With Raiders
By Mark Powell
Yes, we all made the jokes. We all knew it was coming. Yet, somehow, Bill Belichick twisting the knife makes it so much worse.
The New England Patriots are loading up for another Super Bowl run. They have an impressive defensive unit. They have Tom Brady. And now, they've acquired one of the most explosive weapons in all of football, should he shape up and actually find himself on the gridiron, rather than in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Brown had a legitimately impressive falling out in Oakland, in which he literally jettisoned his way off the field and even betrayed the trust of Jon Gruden, who seemed to give him countless chances. But this is where the Patriots thrive--turning other teams' trash into treasure. Hell, they've done it before with the Raiders. Remember Randy Moss?
Antonio Brown Contract Details
This is a shocking deal for a Patriots team which can feel their window closing. Brady is entering his mid-40's, and the uncertainty surrounding the likes of Josh Gordon means their receiving corps could use the boost.
And, of course, this is the Pittsburgh Steelers' worst nightmare. Somehow, someway, they always knew this would happen, which is precisely why they dealt him to the opposite coast. It wasn't enough. Brown has joined the dark side.
