In the midst of the Antonio Brown saga that ultimately ended in his release by the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta's Julio Jones became the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Many consider these two wideouts to be the very best at their position in the league, and the hope is that they each still have plenty of footballing years ahead of them.

With that in mind, let's take a look at how these two wide receivers stack up against each other thus far in their careers when it comes to statistics and accolades.

Julio Jones vs Antonio Brown Stats

Antonio Brown entered the NFL in 2010 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Julio Jones was drafted to the Atlanta Falcons a year later. Since then, they have proven to be two of the most reliable and impressive skill players in the game (at least on the field, that is).

Throughout his nine-year career, Brown has put up 837 receptions, 11,207 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns throughout 130 games, all with Ben Roethlisberger as his QB.

Meanwhile, Jones has caught 698 passes to go with 10,731 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns in 111 games throughout eight years with Matt Ryan.

When averaged out, Brown's average yearly stat line of 93 receptions, 1,245 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns is pretty darn close to Jones' average of 87 catches, 1,341 receiving yards and 6 scores. Both have been incredibly consistent throughout their respective careers, but AB gets a slight edge here.

Julio Jones vs Antonio Brown Career Milestones

Brown has led the league in both receptions and receiving yards twice, while also posting the most receiving touchdowns in 2018. Meanwhile, Jones has led the NFL in receiving yards on two separate occasions, as well as in receptions once.

In terms of playoff success, both players have reached the Super Bowl with their teams, Brown with the Steelers in 2010 and Jones with the Falcons in 2016, but neither have won the big game. Consider the career milestones race a push.

Julio Jones vs Antonio Brown NFL Awards

Both Brown and Jones have been recognized annually for their skills, as Brown has been selected to seven Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams (including four consecutive First Team selections) and Jones has been selected to six Pro Bowls and four All-Pro teams, with two First Team selections. Here, the narrow edge has to go to Brown once again.

The bottom line is that Julio has a viable shot at surpassing AB in terms of statistics and awards, but only if he has a spectacular year that perhaps sees him lead a Falcons return to the Super Bowl and avenge their choke loss two years ago to the Patriots.

At the very least, of course, he's currently employed by an NFL team. That gives him some status that Brown can't currently match.
