Astros Stars Alex Bregman and George Springer Make Generous Donations Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
By Karl Rasmussen
Even amid all the scrutiny the Houston Astros have faced this offseason, the club's star players are still taking the time to give back to the community during this national health crisis. As the coronavirus continues to result in more and more individuals entering self-quarantine, Astros star Alex Bregman made a generous gesture to help those in need.
Bregman donated 1,000 Quarantine Food Kits to in-need youth in the Houston area. The third baseman teamed up with the Houston Foodbank to provide students whose schools are shut down with meals in order to make up for their lack of access to free lunches.
Not only did Bregman make the unselfish donation, he also encouraged his followers to donate to the cause.
Meanwhile, in a fellow act of charity, Astros slugger George Springer made a $100,000 donation to the employees at Minute Maid Park, ensuring they would be receiving compensation while MLB is temporarily postponed.
While Springer and Bregman are both in the crosshairs of angry baseball fans in the offseason, they've seen an outpour of support from their home fans. Now, the two are repaying the love by offering aid during some unprecedented and unpredictable times.
