Astros Are Insane to Consider Trading for Gerrit Cole's Sworn Enemy Trevor Bauer
By Michael Luciano
Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer is oil. Houston Astros starter Gerrit Cole is water. Mixing these two is not only destined to fail, but it's going to blow up in spectacular fashion if it happens.
Despite the fact that these two former UCLA Bruins hate each other's guts, the Astros have reportedly talked to Cleveland about a potential Bauer trade.
Cole and Bauer starred together at UCLA, as Cole was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011 while Bauer was picked third overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
However, the pair were so frosty in college that they would "refuse to speak about each other or look at each other."
With the Astros playing as well as they have been, Jeff Luhnow is prepared to drop a potentially chemistry-destroying bomb into the mix by trading for Bauer.
In MLB The Show Franchise Mode, this would be a great trade. However, this is real life with interpersonal consequences, and acquiring Bauer runs the risk of shattering the locker room into pieces and bringing whatever momentum they had to a screeching halt if those two can't reconcile.
