Astros Call Up Prospect Jose Urquidy to Start Tuesday
By Parker White

On Monday, the Houston Astros selected the contract of right-hander Jose Urquidy from Triple-A Round Rock. The expectation is that Urquidy will start on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies.
Jose Urquidy is traveling today and will join the Astros for tomorrow's game against the Rockies, general manager Jeff Luhnow said. A corresponding 40-man move will be made tomorrow.

Houston still needs to make a move on the 40-man roster, but they'll take care of that Tuesday.
Urquidy, 24, wasn't highly thought of as he entered the 2019 campaign, as he never pitched above A-ball. However, in 15 appearances (13 starts) between Double-A and Triple-A, Urquidy owns a 5-3 record with a 3.40 ERA and 104 strikeouts over 76.2 innings.

Urquidy is ranked as Houston's 29th-best prospect, according to MLB.com. He would have bee eligible for the Rule 5 Draft if he weren't on the Astros' 40-man roster, but he's played at a higher level this season and now he'll be pitching for the big league squad.
