VIDEO: Carlos Correa Says He's Done Talking About Astros' Cheating Scandal
By Sam Dunn
The Houston Astros are lucky to have Carlos Correa around at a time like this. With fire and fury raining down on them from all directions in the fallout of a sign-stealing scandal that stained baseball and put the legitimacy of their 2017 World Series title firmly into question, the veteran shortstop has been one of the only members of the organization to present himself as candidly, authentically contrite, even going as far as admitting that their system of cheating surely helped them win games. But as of Monday, consider him through discussing the details of the scandal.
If any member of this franchise has the right to say enough is enough -- perhaps no one does, to be fair -- it's Correa. And after showing a level of patience and care when so many of his teammates (to say nothing of owner Jim Crane) have chosen not to, he's reached his limit.
That doesn't meant we've learned everything there is to learn about what happened, or who did exactly what and when, of course.
This team will not be free of the stench of this scandal anytime soon. A dark cloud will hang over this whole season, and perhaps subsequent seasons to come. But if we're going to place anyone in the firing line for not grasping the troubling extent of the wrongdoing here, perhaps we might be able to spare Correa the worst of it.
