Astros Reportedly Did Bad Job Informing Losing Candidates That Dusty Baker Got Managerial Gig
After the Astros' cheating scandal rocked the MLB, Houston found themselves looking for a new manager as AJ Hinch was suspended for a year and subsequently fired. Recently, Dusty Baker was named manager, replacing Hinch, on a one-year deal, with an option for the second year.
However, not everyone got the memo. Apparently, at least some of the candidates for the vacancy were not informed Baker got the gig.
One would think that a team already in hot water for all of the commotion they caused over the past several seasons would be careful to not make further mistakes. But, that is not the way the Astros run their organization.
While the Astros' reputation isn't the same as it was a few months ago, they still have an extremely talented group and now a veteran skipper to match. Therefore, Baker made the right move pursuing the job, even with the giant asterisk next to their 2017 World Series win.
Good luck, Dusty. You are going to need it.
