By Jerry Trotta

We have some devastating news to report out of Houston that was confirmed on Thursday evening.
Luke Whitworth, a 24-year-old Houston Astros fan, tragically passed away on Saturday night from injuries sustained during a single vehicle car crash.
Whitworth was driving home after watching the Astros defeat the Yankees in Game 6 of the ALCS to clinch a spot in the World Series.

Whitworth's family told ABC 13 News in Houston that he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.
What make the news all the more crushing is the fact that Whitworth purchased tickets to the Fall Classic just moments after the final out was recorded on Saturday night.
"Son of a gun bought one ticket 'cause that's what he does, he could only afford one," said Matthew Whitworth, Luke's brother.
We’re asking everyone who is going to the game, going to a watch party, or even watching at home to make a sign stating “Luke you’re here with us in spirit”, and to take a picture and post it to Facebook tagging myself, Kathy Whitworth Smith.https://t.co/dvmL4P1i89

Luke was so ecstatic about the prospect of witnessing his Astros compete in the World Series in person that he texted his mom after buying the tickets. "I just spent $800 on a World Series ticket hell yeah," read his last text to her.
He was recently married to his high school sweetheart, Madison Roberts.
This is simply heartbreaking and we send our thoughts and prayers to Luke and the Whitworth family during this difficult time.
