Astros Get Positive Update on George Springer Following Concerning Head Injury
By Adam Weinrib

Houston Astros star George Springer is a fairly irreplaceable person at the top of their postseason lineup, even amid the team's many clear advantages.
And though one dastardly blow looked like it might knock Springer out for an extended period following an abrupt exit to Tuesday's game, he appears to have checked out alright.
Having averted disaster, Astros GM Jeff Luhnow now claims Springer should return in a matter of days from what was initially feared to be a concussion.
George Springer "may need a day or two" off before returning to @Astros lineup, Jeff Luhnow said on @SportsTalk790 moments ago, but initial tests on Springer's head and neck were encouraging. His status for Thursday's game may be determined tomorrow afternoon. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Springer, who traveled with the team back to Houston, likely should not play Thursday, given the strong grasp his club has on the AL West. With October the primary focus at this point, expect the team's top prospect, Kyle Tucker, to get an extended showcase.
For those who haven't seen the initial hit, it seemed fair to fear the worst.
Great catch, but scary hit on the wall.

Instead of an extended treatment plan and a lost season, however, Springer is simply taking a few days, at most, to recharge.
Good. The postseason wouldn't have been nearly the same without him.
