Astros GM Jeff Luhnow Emphatically Shuts Down Carlos Correa Trade Rumors

Carlos Correa trade rumors emerged with the news that the Houston Astros were looking to find ways to cut payroll.
However, general manager Jeff Luhnow did his best to shut down those rumors before they gain more traction.
Carlos Correa called Jeff Luhnow last night after rumors of a possible trade surfaced. Luhnow told him to "enjoy your honeymoon and don't be reading trade rumors."

"I reassured him he's an Astro."
"It would be surprising if we moved any of our core players," Luhnow said.
Luhnow's comments should ease the concerns of Astros fans. However, don't be surprised if Houston gets an offer it can't refuse. The Mets have already reportedly inquired, and with all the pitching they possess it's hard to imagine the Astros not lending an ear.

It's also important to note Correa is under team control through 2021. That allows the team to make decisions on other players if Correa remains in the long-term plans over others. George Springer, who hits free agency after the 2021 season, is someone who comes to mind the Astros could decide to move given their outfield depth in the minors.
Nonetheless, fans should still follow this storyline throughout the offseason.
