Justin Verlander and Kate Upton Donating Every MLB Paycheck They Receive During Shutdown to Charity
By Adam Weinrib

During a time of unprecedented uncertainty across MLB ranks, those who can take care of themselves have been making sure to use their excess cash flow to take care of others, too.
Following in the footsteps of Adam Wainwright and Shin-Soo Choo, Justin Verlander and his superstar spouse Kate Upton are making sure their money falls into the right hands.
During the MLB shutdown, Verlander and Upton are donating every paycheck they receive to a different charitable organization each week.

"Obviously, this is an extremely difficult time for the entire world," Verlander told Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. "There's so many people at home that are in need, whether it's the people on the front lines battling this disease head-on, or someone who is at home and has lost their job who needs to provide basic necessities."
While Wainwright and Choo have focused their efforts on those within the game who aren't getting adequately compensated, like the minor-league players stuck in hellacious limbo, Verlander and Upton have chosen to continually help those in their community who've been unexpectedly hit with a life-altering change they never could've expected.

When the game returns, whenever that may be, Verlander and Upton will be fine. With this gesture, they've ensured that those less fortunate have a chance to get by.
