Astros Pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. Fires off Perfect Tweet After Trevor Bauer Trade
By Adam Weinrib
Sometimes, all it takes to make a point is a perfectly-placed GIF.
The Houston Astros have long been feuding with former Cleveland Indian (and now Cincinnati Red?!) Trevor Bauer. The animosity is mutual.
'Stros ace Gerrit Cole and Bauer have hated each other since their UCLA days, and the mercurial Indian used those negative feelings to take shots at Houston for their...shall we say, not quite "above the board" ways of increasing spin rate?
This led to the Houston pitchers throwing those words back in his face whenever possible, calling him "Tyler" and sending him into fits. Alex Bregman keeps chirping him whenever he tosses him a brushback. It remains a certified Thing.
Suddenly on Tuesday, however, the rumor mill kicked up steam claiming Bauer might be...headed to Houston in a deadline deal?! After all of that noise? How is that anyone's prerogative?
Luckily, the men in the locker room won't have to reconcile it at all; Bauer's a Red, and Lance McCullers is through-the-roof happy about it.
Well, that's settled!
No context necessary. To the naked eye, it's nothing. McCullers has plausible deniability. We won't make any sweeping declarations.
But...yeah. We know what that is. And no amount of *spin* will ever change that opinion.
