Astros Take Down Yankees in Epic ALCS Game 6 to Advance to World Series Against the Nationals
By Karl Rasmussen
Well, the stage is officially set for the 2019 World Series, and all we can say is that we hope it's as thrilling as the six-game ALCS we just witnessed.
The Yankees and Astros fought tooth and nail in what was an intense series, capped off with a sensational swing from Jose Altuve to send Houston to the championship in front of the Minute Maid Park crowd.
DJ LeMahieu's ninth-inning game-tying home run had Yankees fans feeling confident, but their hopes were shattered by Altuve's theatrics in the bottom half of the frame.
The bullpen battle in Game 6 started off disastrously for the Yankees, as Chad Green allowed a three-run shot to Yuli Gurriel in the very first inning of play. The Yankees hung in there after that, and eventually tied the game, but it was all for naught.
The Astros will take on the Nationals in what will be Houston's second World Series trip in the past three seasons, and the Nats' first in franchise history.
This series will feature some of the best pitchers in the sport, has the top three weapons in both rotations are some of the game's best hurlers. Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin will represent the Nats three-headed monster, pitted up against Houston's Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Zack Greinke.
This has the makings of an incredible matchup on baseball's biggest stage.
