The first of three games between the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals on Friday had plenty of late-inning dramatics. They face off again Saturday night in St. Louis.

Three time All-Star Gerrit Cole has the responsibility of shutting down the Cardinals' offense tonight. He's a Cy Young candidate this year thanks to a 3.03 ERA and an MLB-leading 205 strikeouts in just 136.2 innings. In his career, the former Pittsburgh Pirate has a 2.89 ERA at Busch Stadium.

Daniel Ponce de Leon is on the mound for the Redbirds, and has pitched well in place of Michael Wacha in the rotation. He has a 2.82 ERA in 38.1 innings along with 44 strikeouts. As a starter this season, his ERA sits at 2.64.
If the Cardinals can secure a victory tonight, they will hold on to their first-place spot in the NL Central. With Cole staring them square in the face, that may be a tall task.
