The Pittsburgh Pirates (36-41) will be in Houston Wednesday to take on the Astros (50-30) in the second of a three-game interleague set. The last-place Pirates will look to even up the series with their former division rivals after dropping the opener 5-1 on Tuesday.

Astros Lineup

The Astros finally have two of their superstars back at the top of the lineup, as George Springer returned from the IL Tuesday night with a 1-for-4 performance in the leadoff spot. Jose Altuve made his return last week, and he's batting .321 in 28 at-bats since re-joining the club.

25-year-old southpaw Framber Valdez (3-3, 3.61 ERA) will make the start for the Astros Wednesday night. He's pitched pretty well in his second major league season, but he'll be looking to bounce back from a tough outing last Thursday that saw him give up five earned runs in just 3.1 innings en route to a loss against the Yankees.

Pirates Lineup

The Pittsburgh lineup is anchored by cleanup hitter Josh Bell, who is putting together a breakout season. The 26-year-old first baseman is batting .311 with 20 home runs and an OPS over 1.000. Preceding Bell in the order are Kevin Newman, Melky Cabrera, and Starling Marte, who haven't matched Bell's power numbers, but are each batting at least .275.

Rookie Dario Agrazal will make his second career start Wednesday night. The young righty pitched like a rookie in his first start on June 15, allowing two earned runs on six hits in four innings.

This game features a World Series contender and a bottom-feeder, but the great thing about baseball is that means nothing on any given night.
