Atlanta Crowd Just Before Titans-Falcons Kickoff Sunday Was Highly Pathetic
By Chris Pyo
It was only three seasons ago that the Atlanta Falcons infamously blew a 28-3 lead against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Now, the Falcons can't even fill up half of the seats at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with 10 minutes to go before kickoff. That's pitiful.
If you'd like to check out the display...uh...look below.
To be fair, when you have a team that's 1-3 on the season in a competitive NFC South, it's difficult to attract fans to your stadium.
And for the fans who were in attendance for the Falcons-Titans matchup, boy, did they NOT get their money's worth.
The Titans, a team that was also 1-2 entering this matchup, were underdogs against a potent Atlanta offense that still features gunslinger Matt Ryan and one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Julio Jones.
Unfortunately, the Falcons' defense has been decimated by injuries lately, and the Titans took advantage of that, with Marcus Mariota throwing for three touchdowns and Derrick Henry rushing for exactly 100 yards.
The Falcons' 2019 campaign just keeps getting more and more dismal, and it's difficult to imagine a scenario in which they even sniff the playoffs. If only they hadn't blown that Super Bowl lead. It all seemed so simple at halftime.
