VIDEO: Eagles' Avonte Maddox Stretchered Off Field After Major Accidental Hit From Teammate
By Scott Rogust
Thursday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers started off in brutal fashion. Packers running back Jamaal Williams was stretchered off the field due to a helmet-to-helmet hit from Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett. Unfortunately, the closing seconds of the game saw the re-emergence of that stretcher. With the Packers in scoring territory, Aaron Rodgers targeted tight end Robert Tonyan, who was covered by Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox. Unfortunately for Maddox, he was blindsided by teammate Andrew Sendejo, and ended up almost motionless on the turf.
Medical staff checked on Maddox, while the entire Eagles team ran onto the field and kneeled beside him, praying that he was okay. The cornerback was immobilized onto a stretcher and taken off the field.
It was a rough night for Maddox, as he was burned by Green Bay receivers and called for numerous penalties. But, the Eagles pulled out a 34-27 win over the Packers, thanks to a late interception by linebacker Nigel Bradham.
We wish only the very best to the Eagles, who went on to win the game, and to Maddox most of all.
