VIDEO: Clip of Mic'd up Baker Mayfield Calling Freddie Kitchens an Idiot in 2018 Really Says it All
It was already pretty clear that most Browns' players didn't take too kindly to former head coach Freddie Kitchens. Multiple videos surfaced throughout the year on social media of player outbursts directed at Kitchens after some of his bonehead decisions (namely involving Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.) in games, but little was known about the Kitchens' relationship that was perhaps most critical to the team's success: the one with his quarterback.
Mayfield surely wasn't aware of what was to come in his sophomore season. The Browns managed to finish Baker's rookie campaign on a hot streak, even granting Kitchens' his first head coaching nod in the process.
The future was bright in Cleveland until it wasn't, with Kitchens axed and Mayfield taking a season-long break in his progression as a professional signal-caller.
Chin up, Baker, you're getting a new coach. While one clip cannot summarize Mayfield's entire relationship with Kitchens, it's telling that very few of his players were upset at the organization's decision.
For the Browns' sake, we hope their next hire can establish an immediate connection with the Oklahoma product.
