Baker Mayfield's Frustration With Colin Cowherd Continues After Latest Take
By Michael Luciano
The Cleveland Browns are a tire fire just a few months removed from being coronated as the most exciting team in the league, and quarterback Baker Mayfield has regressed in his second season.
This was a tremendous windfall for noted Mayfield hater Colin Cowherd, who famously declared him undraftable after his arrest in college, and had egg on his face all last year when Mayfield was breaking rookie records. When Cowherd continue to excoriate Mayfield by saying he was "in love with himself" after shooing away critical fans during Week 16, Baker responded on Twitter by claiming Cowherd was even more narcissistic than he.
Mayfield has led the Browns to a 6-9 record, as they have declined in pretty much all major offensive and defensive categories, except for their oft-deemphasized running game led by Nick Chubb.
The video that has Cowherd worked up isn't a good look for Baker, but this is still Cowherd overgeneralizing based on his dislike for Mayfield.
This is a guy who said Mike Trout is irrelevant, so take that with a grain of salt.
Mayfield might be in the middle of a tough season, but he's far from the biggest problem in that organization. Cowherd, who usually puts more of a premium on organizational stability as an indicator of team success than most talking heads, appears to be gleefully pushing that to the side in order to continue doubling down on his anti-Mayfield rhetoric.
