Baker Mayfield Showed Up to Practice With a Fresh Shave and Shocked Us All
By Joey Mauceri
It is with great sadness that I deliver the news that the glorious beard of Baker Mayfield is gone, but not forgotten.
The Cleveland Browns QB showed up to OTAs today cleanly shaven, to the shock of all of us.
I guess he woke up today feeling dangerous?
Though Mayfield's beard may be gone, our expectations for the second year signal-caller certainly are not. The Browns look like they have a franchise QB for the first time in...basically forever. The Rookie of the Year runner-up threw a rookie record 27 touchdowns last season, with an excellent 93.7 passer rating.
Mayfield now enters this season with a year of experience and an improved supporting cast. Browns GM John Dorsey made a bold move in trading for All-Pro receiver Odell Beckham Jr, and signing stud running back Kareem Hunt, who does enter this season with a dark cloud hanging over him.
Mayfield now has one of the receiving corps in the league in the form of Beckham, Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway, not to mention stud tight end David Njoku as well. He will also have one of the best backfield in the league once Hunt returns from his 8 game suspension, with Nick Chubb and Hunt creating a dynamic 1-2 punch.
Beard or not, Mayfield will be looking to prove all the doubters wrong in 2019.
