It is an understatement to say that the Golden State Warriors have a lot on the line Thursday night. The reigning two-time NBA champions are heading into Game 6 with their season on the line, facing a 3-2 series deficit against the formidable Toronto Raptors. Not only could this game spell the end of their season, but Game 6 will be the last game ever played by the team at Oracle Arena.
The Dubs will be playing at the Chase Center in San Francisco starting next year, and Thursday night will surely be emotional as Warriors players and fans alike say goodbye to the beloved arena that they have called home for the last 53 years. Among the people saying goodbye to Oracle is former Warrior Baron Davis, who tweeted his goodbye to the venue ahead of it's final game.
Davis played with Golden State from 2005-08, a run that included the "We Believe" team of 2006-07 Davis speaks highly of the arena as many do, tweeting out his appreciation to the loyal fans and incredible energy they brought to Oracle.
The Warriors first began playing at Oracle in 1966, just four years after they moved to San Francisco from Philadelphia. Plenty of fond memories have been made in that building, including plenty of playoff and NBA Finals games.
Though the Warriors will never play at Oracle Arena again even with a victory tonight, winning Game 6 would certainly mean a lot to a home crowd that is sure to be running high on emotions.
