Bartolo Colon Reportedly Sentenced to Pay $4 Million to Doctors Who Saved His Career

Ah, so this is why Bartolo Colon was able to stick around in the MLB for such a long time.
The 46-year-old former pitcher apparently received stem-cell treatments in the latter years of his career, treatments which he will now be paying a hefty price for.
According to Judge Jose Luis Garcia’s decision, former MLB Player Bartolo Colon is sentenced to pay $4,592,215 (10% of 45,922,148 dollars) corresponding to his earnings from contracts from 2010 to 2017, to Doctors Leonel Liriano and Sergio Guzman Durán.@z101digital @ZDeportes https://t.co/pOALAzsLL7

Colon has been sentenced to pay doctors who treated the beloved ex-ballplayer with stem cells, treatments that helped to revive Colon's career and allowed him to last much longer than anyone could have anticipated.
Colon became a MLB folk hero during the 2010's, as he played for several teams, winning double-digit games from 2012-2016. It's quite possible that without these stem cell treatments, Colon's career would have ended far sooner.
LRT: Those doctors had an agreement with Bartolo where if they revived his career using stem cells then they’d be entitled to 10% of his earnings.

Considering the benefits that Colon received from these treatments, it's surprising that he was unwilling to pay back these doctors in a timely and fair manner.
Now, however, Colon will have to pay up.
