Basically Every Team is Pursuing Edwin Diaz and That Means the Mets Will Mess it up

Now that we can officially declare the Robinson Cano/Edwin DIaz deal a flop of the highest order, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenan will have the opportunity to erase that mistake and flip Diaz to a contender.

Several contending teams are interested in the 25-year-old closer, which could give the Mets a chance to restock their depleted farm system that was gutted by the Diaz trade.

Trying to get something for the struggling Diaz would be a great move, but we are talking about the Mets, so they'll either hang on to him or end up with a poor return.

Diaz has lost all the superpowers that made him so feared in Seattle, having seen his ERA balloon from 1.96 to 4.81 in his first, and potentially only, year as a Met.

However, Diaz still has 61 strikeouts in 39 innings, so the swing and miss stuff his still there. At 25, Diaz still has bunches of value, but it just isn't working, for whatever reason, in New York. A trade could be best for all parties involved.

With the Mets' dumb luck, Diaz will likely turn into a 50 save per season nightmare like he was in Seattle if they decide to deal him.
