The Baylor Bears athletic department has dealt with several scandals throughout the past few years, and another one emerged on Friday.

The latest misconduct has to do with a hazing scandal involving the school's baseball team. An incident reportedly took place in 2019 and now 14 players are being suspended for taking part.

So many players were suspended as a result of the scandal that the school was forced to stagger the punishments over a three-week period. That is a serious problem and the fact that 14 people took part in the hazing is shameful. The upperclassmen involved in the incident are all facing two-game suspensions.

University of Baylor Vice President Mack Rhoades commented on the matter saying, "The University takes such matters very seriously. Our priority is to provide a safe and caring environment for all student-athletes. This type of behavior is not reflective of the mission and vision of Baylor Athletics."

The Bears open their 2020 campaign against Nebraska on Feb. 14, but due to the disturbing scandal, the team will be without some of its more experienced players.
