Multiple Baylor Players Take to Twitter Vouching for Potential Matt Rhule Replacement
By Michael Luciano

The Baylor football program was given a major system shock this morning when transformative head coach Matt Rhule left Waco to become the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers.
The Baylor players wasted no time in naming who they want as a replacement, as associate head coach Joey McGuire is clearly the preferred candidate to follow Rhule as leader of the Bears.

McGuire was a legendary high school coach in Texas that won back-to-back state championships at Cedar Hills.
McGuire was hired as the tight ends coach by Rhule in 2017, and served as the associate head coach and defensive ends coach in 2019.
Based on the early groundswell of support, McGuire just might end up replacing Rhule, who was given an absurd seven-year deal by the Panthers.
Panthers are giving former Baylor HC Matt Rhule a seven-year - seven year - deal worth $60 million that with incentives could be worth up to $70 million, per league sources.

McGuire is unproven at this level, but he would allow Baylor to keep hitting home runs on the recruiting end of things while continuing to keep the support of a locker room already at his back. The clear and obvious choice for Baylor is the in-house option, as they can avoid the risks with hiring outside of the program.
