Baylor QB Charlie Brewer Cleared to Play in Sugar Bowl Against Georgia
By Karl Rasmussen
After a disappointing loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, Baylor finds themselves matched up with Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
The Bears will need to be at their best in order to get points on the board against the tough Bulldogs' defense, and in a bit of good news, head coach Matt Rhule revealed that starting quarterback Charlie Brewer has been cleared to suit up.
Brewer exited the Big 12 Championship early after taking a hard hit on a sack against the Sooners. He was treated for a concussion and did not return to the game.
There was some question as to whether he'd be available for Baylor's bowl game on Wednesday, but per Rhule's latest update, it looks like he'll be good to go.
Brewer was an important part of Baylor's successful season in 2019, throwing 20 touchdowns and just six interceptions, compiling over 2,500 yards through the air. The junior signal caller also scored 10 touchdowns via the ground, picking up 337 yards on 138 carries.
Georgia will surely present a formidable challenge for Brewer, but there's no QB on the roster Baylor would rather have under center in their bowl game, despite Jacob Zeno's impressive showing in the Big 12 Championship.
