Baylor Takes Top Spot in Latest College Basketball AP Top 25 Update
By Alex Coffman

The AP Poll results are in after a wild week at the top (sorry, Duke), and Baylor has clinched the No. 1 spot after an impressive week of wins.
The Bears benefit mostly from the win against the Kansas Jayhawks a week ago, and Gonzaga's increasingly weak schedule.

Baylor is the new No. 1! ?
1. Baylor
2. Gonzaga
3. Kansas
4. San Diego State
5. Florida State
6. Louisville
7. Dayton
8. Duke
9. Villanova
10. Seton Hall
However, the Zags and Jayhawks are not going away, grabbing the two and three spots, respectively. Gonzaga is unbeaten in their past 12, but would love a re-do on their late-November game against Michigan, when they were blown off the floor 82-64 in the Bahamas. Kansas is perhaps a bit lucky to stay in that No. 3 spot, with two loses in their past six games to Baylor and 14th-ranked Villanova.
San Diego State rose three spots, as Florida State rounded out the top five by edging out wins against ACC rivals Virginia and University of Miami this week, climbing four spots in the process.
11. Michigan State

12. Oregon
13. Butler
14. West Virginia
15. Kentucky
16. Auburn
17. Maryland
18. Texas Tech
19. Iowa
20. Memphis
21. Illinois
22. Arizona
23. Colorado
24. Rutgers
25. Houston
The Top 25 serves mainly to remind us of a lot of the normal names we typically see in the big dance, but a couple of surprises like Illinois and Rutgers are both putting together quickly good seasons behind Michigan State in the Big Ten, and should be a part of the Madness, too.
March really isn't that far away, so keep an eye on the AP Poll in order to win bragging rights and jackpots in your March Madness tournaments.
