Bears Benching Mitchell Trubisky and Not Even Attending Colin Kaepernick's Workout is Embarrassing
By Jerry Trotta
To say it's a travesty to see the Chicago Bears world-beating defense go to waste because of their inept offense would be underselling their current predicament.
Chicago ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in a game where Sean McVay was hiding Jared Goff in plain sight. Goff was asked to drop back just 18 times, while Todd Gurley racked up 97 yards rushing on 25 carries.
Of course, however, the Bears faltered because Mitchell Trubisky was erratic as ever. Heck, Matt Nagy even turned to Chase Daniel for Chicago's final drive. But don't worry folks, general manager Ryan Pace didn't think it was necessary to attend Colin Kaepernick's workout on Saturday.
This is the epitome of incompetence, folks. Chicago's defense is ready to win now, and yet the Bears front office continues to deploy the Trubisky experiment.
It seems evident to everybody but them that their former No. 2 overall pick is better served as a backup quarterback in the NFL. And please don't hit us with the rebuttal of last year's success. If 2019 has been any indication, that season was an aberration, not the norm.
We're not saying that Kaepernick would jump right in and lead Chicago to the promised land, but to not even send a scout to examine his workout, in which he showed that his arm is still strong, is laughable.
Bears fans (and their defense) simply deserve better than this.
