Bears Cut Ties With RB Mike Davis After Failing to Figure Out How to Use Him
By Parker White

Over the offseason, the Chicago Bears looked to elevate their running game by signing tailback Mike Davis to a two-year, $6 million deal. Well, less than a season into this experiment, the Bears have cut him.
The #Bears cut RB Mike Davis this morning. That makes sense as it greatly improves the team's standing for a compensatory draft pick in April.

What doesn't add up is where the plan to use a back signed to a $6M/2-yr deal in the first place went awry.https://t.co/CG3IeJgBgA
Davis only played in seven games (one start) with ChiTown, rushing for a measly 25 yards on 11 attempts. With such little production, it made sense for Chicago to part ways with him-- especially since they stand to gain a fourth-round compensatory draft pick by letting him go.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace surely hoped that Davis would be a worthy successor to Jordan Howard in the No. 2 role, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Chicago's run game has been less productive this season, and Howard even helped the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Bears last week.
