Bears Defense Should Have a Field Day Against No-Name Lions QB David Blough
By Jerry Trotta
The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions will kickoff Thanksgiving's slate of NFL games on Thursday afternoon, and Matt Nagy's side should be the undisputed favorites.
With Matthew Stafford (back) and Jeff Driskel (hamstring) out of commission with injuries, third-stringer David Blough, an undrafted rookie out of Purdue, will be under center for Detroit.
What does this tell us? That the Bears vaunted defense has no excuses to not have a field day.
If not now, when?
The number of first-team reps that Blough has taken in practice prior to this week is probably alarmingly low and the fact that he's being thrust into a nationally televised game should have Khalil Mack and Co. licking their chops.
Detroit has next to no confidence in Blough's ability to go out there and throw the pigskin around, as they were brazen and desperate enough to attempt to sign Josh Johnson from the XFL.
No pressure, Chicago, but we will be expecting at least five sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and perhaps a defensive touchdown if you're feeling greedy.
What better time to get fat against a third-string signal caller than Turkey Day?
Make it happen.
