Bears Fans Edit Ravens' Backup Kicker Kaare Vedvik's Wikipedia Page and Proclaim Him Their Hero
By Karl Rasmussen
The Chicago Bears REALLY want a reliable kicker. After last season's infamous Double Doink from the boot of Cody Parkey, Bears fans have been scrambling to see some type of positivity out of training camp reports from kicking competitions. Thus far, not much has optimistic news has been shared on that front.
Well, it seems fans are getting creative and taking matters into their own hands, and they have a specific target in mind. Bears fans have taken a liking to Ravens' backup kicker Kaare Vedvik after being linked with the 25-year-old Norwegian in recent days. And by "taken a liking" we mean that Bears fans have become entirely obsessed with Vedvik, going as far as to edit the kicker's Wikipedia page.
That's right. Bears fans edited the page to say that Vedvik would "replace Walter Peyton as the greatest player in team history."
So, in case you were wondering how desperate the Bears were for kickers, that'll give you a nice taste.
As for the Bears' kickers currently ON the roster, Eddy Pineiro hit 1-of-2 attempts, shanking a 48-yarder, while Elliott Fry pushed a 43-yarder through the uprights.
While some may think Bears' fans are getting a bit ahead of themselves with their desire for Vedvik, the 25-year-old nailed all four of his field goal attempts in Baltimore's preseason opener, including a 55-yard gem. He even punted twice, bombing a 58-yard missile down the field.
If the Bears can land this kid, they'd clearly have the full support of their fan base.
