Bears Kicker Eddy Pineiro Suffers Minor Knee Injury in Weight Room Ahead of Week 3
By Sean Facey
Kicker might actually have become a cursed position for the Bears.
Chicago's Eddy Pineiro reportedly suffered a minor knee injury while in the weight room ahead of the Bears' Week 3 matchup against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.
Fortunately for the Bears and their fans, Pineiro kicked on Saturday, and head coach Matt Nagy doesn't think that it will turn into anything serious.
Pineiro played the role of hero less than a week ago when he drilled a last-second, 53-yard field goal to help his team snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against the Denver Broncos.
He's been perfect for them this year, going four-for-four on field goal attempts and drilling the only extra point he's been called upon for.
It goes without saying that the Bears would like as much stability as possible at the kicker position. After Cody Parkey's haunting missed field goal in the playoffs last year against the Philadelphia Eagles, they went through plenty of kickers in the preseason before ultimately deciding on Pineiro.
And considering how mightily the Bears' offense has struggled to find the end zone this year, losing him for even one game could be a devastating blow.
For now, though, it doesn't seem to be anything major. Only time will tell if it affects how he plays.
