Bears Move for Jimmy Graham Was a Clear Overpay

Jimmy Graham spent two seasons in Green Bay and while he was average, he was not the same player he once was. The tight end combined for five touchdowns in two seasons and the team decided to move on.
The Chicago Bears apparently think Graham has plenty left in the tank and made it clear by offering the veteran a two-year deal worth $16 million.
IMO, the worst signing of NFL free agency so far.

I was honestly hoping Graham would retire. Does anyone really think there's anything left in the tank here? And it's not like he's a really good blocker either.. https://t.co/PjQUYse9Nz
The Bears are near the bottom of the league in terms of cap space. This is a make-or-break year for Mitchell Trubisky and the best option to help the offense was Graham? And for $9 million guaranteed? This has the potential to be another disastrous move for Bears GM Ryan Pace.
It’s a bad Tight End draft. Really weak. That would appear to explain why the Bears ??? gave Jimmy Graham that kind of dough.

Graham's agent either convinced the Bears that his client had multiple offers on the table or Pace just really wanted Graham and was willing to pay him this money. The tight end has only eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark twice in his career and the last time was in 2013. He became a star in New Orleans when he had 16 touchdowns in 2013, but at this point in his career he's pretty clearly washed. Just ask Packers fans.
