Bears Need Mitchell Trubisky to Build Off Big Thanksgiving Game Ahead With Tough Schedule Looming
By Karl Rasmussen
The Chicago Bears clawed back to .500 with a win at Ford Field over the Detroit Lions in what may have been Mitchell Trubisky's best performance of the season. While it wasn't perfect, the Bears' third-year signal caller got the job done on the road, and kept the team's playoff dreams alive.
Well, things are only going to get harder from here on out, Mitch.
The Bears will surely be hoping Thanksgiving lit a bit of confidence into the 25-year-old, as they'll need him to play at the same level over the next four weeks, as Chicago is up against the most daunting part of their schedule to close out the year.
Trubisky and the Bears end the season by hosting Dallas next week, before traveling to Green Bay. The final two weeks of the campaign feature a home game against the ever-dangerous Chiefs, and a road clash at Minnesota.
It's hard to picture the Bears being outright favorites for any one of those matchups, so they'll really need more clutch performances from Trubisky if they want to keep this season afloat.
While Trubisky's struggles this year have been well documented, the former North Carolina Tar Heel turned in his first 300+ yard performance, while also dialing up three touchdown passes in the 24-20 rout of the Lions.
While he certainly had his share of mistakes, none proved too costly as the Bears were able to stay in the game thanks to the defense. That's a luxury Trubisky has week in and week out, but it may not prove enough when up against such formidable offenses like the ones on the docket.
We'll see if Trubisky can keep this high level of play going as the Bears' season begins to wind down, because if he can't they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
